How Many Rehabs Are In Pennsylvania?
According to the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services, there are more than 550 drug and alcohol rehab programs in Pennsylvania. These programs were serving more than 50,000 PA residents on the day of the survey, with more than 90 percent of the clients being over the age of 18.
Less than 200 of these rehab facilities offer residential or inpatient treatment, and only about 6 percent of all people in PA receive long-term rehabilitation help. The remaining number attends outpatient services of some type. In addition, three times as many people were taking methadone compared to the number of people in residential programs, which is one of the reasons why the relapse rate is so high in the state.
66 percent of the drug rehabs in Pennsylvania are private non-profit programs and 31 percent are private for-profit facilities. The other 3 percent are operated by some type of government agency.
